Hobo Delight

Hobos have been traveling the US and riding the rails since the Civil War. The image of the hobo peaked during the depression of the 1930's, when many took to the rails in a desperate search for work. It must be noted that a hobo is different from a tramp or a bum. Most hobos would agree that a hobo work, the tramp will only work when they have to, and the bums will not work at all.

Beef And Rice Casserole

Worcestershire sauce has its roots in India, but was actually created by accident in its namesake town of Worcester, England in 1835.

Chicken And Rice

The cheese originates from the village of Cheddar in Somerset, South West England. Cheddar Gorge on the edge of the village contains a number of caves, which provided the ideal humidity and constant temperature for maturing the cheese. Cheddar cheese traditionally had to be made within 30 miles (48 km) of Wells Cathedral.

Red Beans And Rice With Smoked Sausage

Bay leaf (plural bay leaves) refers to the aromatic leaf of the bay laurel (Laurus nobilis, Lauraceae). Fresh or dried bay leaves are used in cooking for their distinctive flavor and fragrance. The leaves are often used to flavor soups, stews, braises and pates in Mediterranean cuisine. The fresh leaves are very mild and do not develop their full flavor until several weeks after picking and drying.

Kielbasa Rice

I consider myself to be a happy person. I am happy being right here in my home with my family. There is no place on earth better then home with the family.

But on the other hand, I am not happy. I see the world around me, hear of countries where children are starving, people live in slums, folks who have lost everything, like the folks in Japan. Our prayers are with all those affected by the tsunamis.

I want to do more. I want to help more. There are so many ways you can help.

I don't have thousands to give to help the homeless or feed folks who need it but I can donate few can goods to the local food bank.

Here is some good flavorful poor folks food. Poor folks know how to cook good tasty food, as we have to make due with what we have.
