Sloppy Joe Mini Penne Skillet

We love pasta for many reasons, they're cheap and versatile.


Sloppy Joe Mini Penne Skillet
Recipe by Christine Lamb @ Christine's Pantry - 2016

Ingredients:
1 pound ground chuck beef
4 ounces mini penne
1 - 15 oz. can sloppy joe sauce
1 - 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
1 white onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
salt and pepper
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 ladle pasta water
colby and monterey jack cheese

Directions:
Cook pasta according package directions. Drain and reserve 1 ladle pasta water.

In large skillet over medium heat, add ground chuck beef, salt, pepper and worcestershire sauce, cook until no longer pink. Remove meat to a paper towel lined dish. In the same skillet add onions, bell pepper, salt, pepper, garlic powder and crushed red pepper, stir and cook until tender, about 4 to 5 minutes. Add meat back to skillet, stirring. Add sloppy joe sauce, diced tomatoes, italian seasoning, pasta water and stir in cooked pasta. Heat through. Sprinkle cheese, cover until cheese is melted, remove cover and stir.

  8. I fixed this dish. It was very good. I replaced the garlic powder with minces garlic. I don't really do spicey foods so I replaced the red pepper flakes with Tony Chachere's creole seasoning. I topped it with the cheese but I put it the oven for about 10 minutes. It makes a lot so I put the extra in a container and put it in the freezer so for another time I'll just get it out and put cheese on it. Dinner! Thank you for sharing you recipe.

  9. I made this last night and it was a winner! My son lives a few blocks away and I took him some and after he ate he said Keep that recipe! Husband and grandson loved it also! Had most spices on hand so this was easy! Try it out! You’ll love it!
