Debo’s Deep Fried Tortilla Dogs

State Fair Food
By Christine Lamb

One of the biggest attractions at the State Fair of Texas is the food. And there is a lot of fried food.

So when you go to the fair bring a hearty appetite. Enjoy some of the best food in the state. Flectcher’s original corny dog, deep fried corn battered hot dog was created by Dallas residents Carl and Neil Flectcher. State fair has been selling corny dogs since 1942. About half a million corny dogs are sold during the State Fair each year.

Another favorite State Fair food is Funnel Cakes. Tradition at the State Fair since 1980. Batter that’s deep fried, then dusted with powder sugar and optional fruit topping has been a favorite for a long time. Now, you can buy funnel cake mixes at the grocery store. Of course, it’s not the same.

Love me some turkey legs. It’s fun to watch fairgoers stroll through the Fair Park eating on turkey leg.
